it's quite unusual to find "dark" regencies - I mean, we readers normally associate strong themes such the ones you tackle in your novels (abuses, etc.) to medieval and Georgian romances, while regency times are normally considered as a golden age where everything was perfect, and wearing the wrong dress at a soirée the greatest personal drama ever possible.

Why your choice of settings has been so different from the romance standards?

Un'altra domanda per Barbara: è piuttosto insolito trovare dei regencies "dark" - voglio dire, noi lettrici siamo solite associare i temi "forti" che tu tratti nei tuoi romanzi ( abusi, etc.) ai romance di ambientazione medievale e georgiana, mentre di solito si pensa all'epoca regency come a una specie di età dell'oro, dove tutto era sempre perfetto, ed il peggior dramma possibile era, tutt'al più, indossare ad un ballo il vestito sbagliato.

Come mai hai scelto un'epoca storica così diversa dagli standard del romance, visto il tipo di trame che affronti ?
