Jennifer, you asked which is the hardest sell--setting or time period. I would definitely say setting. I've been told by agents and editors to keep the basic story and set it in England. Of course, that will never happen. What's the purpose of writing about Italian history mingled with romance if I can't set it in Italy. Many agents and editors believe Italian seetings will never sell. I disagree, but I'm not the one buying my books.
