Visto che da un paio di persone è stato sollevato l'argomento dei vovaboli usati in Oltre l'innocenza per definire i genitali, vorrei fare alcune precisazioni.

Emma Holly ha già ampiamente ed elegantemente risposto, in termini generali, della scelta o meno di alcune parole, riservate peraltro a determinate parti della storia e non a tutto il libro.

Gusti a parte, la traduzione italiana ha tradotto correttamente i termini usati, anche se ovviamente non ci può essere una corrispondenza letterale e l'inglese in molti ambiti, come in questo, ha parecchie definizioni per la stessa cosa.

Utlizzare parole come membro o pene, oltre che scorretto sarebbe stato ridicolo, non solo perchè la Holly non li ha usati, ma anche perchè nell'ottocento, esattamente come ai giorni nostri, nessuno nel mezzo della passione direbbe: tocca il mio membro o simili. Certi termini esistono e vengono usati da millenni e sappiamo per certo che erano usati anche nel secolo scorso, per cui non sono assolutamente fuori contesto.

Being that some people brought in the subject of the words used to define the genitals in Beyond Innocence, I would like to make a few remark.

Emma Holly had already widely answered with elegance and wit, explaining her choices of those terms, which by the way concern only certain parts of the story, not the whole book.

Aside from personal tastes, the italian translation is faithful and correct to the english original, though it can't be litteral, because in the english language there are many words with the same meaning.

Using penis or member would have been not only uncorrect, because Ms Holly did not use them, but also ridicoulos: people in the middle of a passionate embrace, in the 19th century and today too, would not say: do tuch my member!

Certain terms do exist and have been commonly used from more than two thousands years and we know for sure they were used during the last century too, so it is not out of context or historically innacurate for Ms Holly to use them
