How did this happen? Georgie York, once the costar of America's favorite television sitcom, has been publicly abandoned by her famous husband, her film career has tanked, her father is driving her crazy, and her public image as a spunky heroine is taking a serious beating.
What should a down-on-her-luck actress do? Not go to Vegas . . . not run into her detestable former costar, dreamboat-from-hell Bramwell Shepard . . . and not get caught up in an ugly incident that leads to a calamitous elopement. Before she knows it, Georgie has a fake marriage, a fake husband, and maybe (or not) a fake sex life.
It's a paparazzi free-for-all, and Georgie's nonsupporting cast doesn't help. There's Bram's punk-nightmare housekeeper, Georgie's own pushy parent, a suck-up agent, an icy studio head with a private agenda, and her ex-husband's new wife, who can't get enough of doing good deeds and saving the world - the bitch. As for Georgie's leading man, Bram's giving the performance of his life, but he's never cared about anyone except himself, and it's not exactly clear why.
Two enemies find themselves working without a script in a town where the spotlight shines bright . . . and where the strongest emotions can wear startling disguises.

Georgie York, un tempo la co-protagonista di una delle sitcom televisive più famose d’America, è stata pubblicamente abbandonata da suo marito, la sua carriera cinematografica si è incagliata, suo padre la sta facendo impazzire, e la sua immagine pubblica di eroina senza macchia e senza paura ha preso una bella batosta.
Cosa dovrebbe fare un’attrice in cattive acque? Non andare a Las Vegas . . . non incontrare quel disgraziato di Bramwell Shepard, il suo ex college della sitcom. . . e non farsi coinvolgere in un brutto incidente che porta ad una fuga disastrosa. Prima che se ne renda conto, Georgie si ritrova con un matrimonio fasullo, un marito fasullo, e forse anche una vita sessuale fasulla – o forse no.
E’ uno scontro selvaggio tra paparazzi, e il gruppo di personaggi assai poco collaborativi che circondano Georgie non aiuta di certo. C’è la donna delle pulizie di Bram, una punk da incubo, il padre rompiscatole di Georgie, un agente, un direttore di studio freddo come il ghiaccio con un’agenda privata, e la nuova moglie del suo ex-marito, che sembra non poter fare a meno di compiere buone azioni e salvare il mondo a ogni tre per due – quella brutta carogna. Circa il partner di Georgie, Bram sta recitando meglio di quanto abbia fatto in tutta la sua vita, ma a lui non è mai importato niente di nessuno a parte se stesso, e quindi le ragioni del suo comportamento non sono affatto chiare.
Due nemici si trovano a lavorare insieme senza lo straccio di un copione mentre la luce dei riflettori splende . . . e forti emozioni portano a incredibili camuffamenti .
