She is a bird in a gilded cage who escapes to a wider world filled with senses rattling every step of the way. The mystery of her sister’s death and the romantic subplot are delightfully created to provide deeper conflict within the soul of the heroine, but it does not take a forecaster, a psychic or a reviewer to know this is Faith’s fate that turns Nalini Singh’s thriller into what will be a sub-genre favorite. La sensitiva Faith Nightstar evita le emozioni estreme perchè sa che non può permettersi di perdere il controllo dato che significherebbe perdere la sua debole presa sulle sue capacità. Tuttavia, le sue ultime visioni sono piene di una tensione che la terrorizza. Già tesa, è quasi al limite quando sua sorella viene assassinata. Faith deve lasciare il suo rifugio sicuro per la prima volta dopo vent'anni per capire cosa è successo alla sorella, se vuole riguadagnare equilibrio nella sua vita e assicurarsi di non essere la prossima vittima. Lascia il suo rifugio non fidandosi di nessuno. All'esterno incontra un mutaforma gatto-uomo, Vaughn D'Angelo, che sente un'affinità con la donna terrorizzata e avverte il bisogno di proteggerla. VISIONS OF HEAT è un eccitante, ma strano romance fantastico che tiene avvinti i lettori dall'inizio mentre il bozzolo in cui vive Faith Nightstar viene svelato al pubblico. Lei è un uccello rinchiuso in una gabbia dorata che fugge fuori, in un mondo più ampio, pieno di sensazioni che rendono rumoroso ogni passo. Il giallo della morte della sorella e la sotto-trama romantica sono stati creati per originare un conflitto interiore ancoa più profondo nell'anima dell'eroina, ma non ci vuole un veggente, un sensitivo o un critico letterario per sapere che il destino di Faithè quello di  trasformare il thriller di Nalini Singh in quello che diventerà uno dei libri preferito di questo genere.
