C’è sicuramente qualcosa di autobiografico nel modo in cui viene descritta l’eroina, figlia di padre inglese e madre francese esattamente come l’autrice, e quindi in qualche modo obbligata a dividersi tra due culture non molto omogenee tra di loro. La Nash dichiara di voler rendere omaggio coi suoi romanzi regencies a Jane Austen, la sua autrice preferita: in questo libro la cosa è senz’altro particolarmente evidente, e non solo per lo stile delicato e romantico, che ha strappato gli applausi di critici e lettori… quando lo leggerete, capirete perché! ;-)

La Perkins, che scrive anche sotto il nome di Diane Gaston, è un’autrice molto abile e sensibile, capace di creare personaggi sfaccettati e davvero credibili dal punto di vista umano, le cui vicende riescono a coinvolgere emotivamente in profondità il lettore.

Sono in fase di organizzazione corsi  focalizzati sul tema dei grandi sentimenti con laboratori tenuti da scrittrici e scrittori di grandi romanzi d’amore e sceneggiatori di fama nazionale e internazionale che analizzeranno lo stretto rapporto tra fiction visiva e fiction letteraria. Non mancherà l’attenzione ai giovani con occasioni di incontro e formazione per chi aspira a lavorare nell’ambito dell’editoria.
I temi trattati saranno la traduzione, il flusso del lavoro editoriale, le diverse forme di scrittura (televisiva, giornalistica, narrativa).

THEATRICAL POETRY LAB 
BODY OF LOVE (Only in italian)
The theatrical poetry laboratori ‘Body of Love’, is another course offered by the Women’s Fiction Festival together with the CINEFABRICA Association of Matera. This course is a welcome addition to the other courses, in order to round out the forms of expression of gripping emotions. Body of Love is a voyage into forms of theatrical expression using the body and poetry as the media to explore space and emotion and as a way to learn to work with others to learn to move your body in harmony with other bodies. Movement becomes words and words become movement. Poetry is expressed by gestures, actions and movements, imagination brought to life.

Il laboratorio poetico teatrale “Corpo d’amore”, è una nuova proposta del Women's Fiction Festival.
Per completare il cammino nelle forme espressive, il Women's Fiction Festival offre un percorso teatrale di ricerca sull’espressività corporea e sulla poesia. Il corpo esplora lo spazio, incontra l'altro, guida, accoglie e respinge. La molteplicità diventa un corpo unico. La parola poetica è evocata dal movimento. La parola si interconnette con il corpo. La poesia diventa gesto, intenzione, azione, scrittura di un'immagine evocata.

Mandy M. Roth: UNA SCRITTRICE DANNATAMENTE BRAVA

I grew up fascinated by creatures that go bump in the night. From the very beginning I was odd and creative. After studying art all the way through school, I went to major in it at college. One rather unexpected child later, I changed my major and finished with a great balance of art and business. The two fields left me a prime candidate for marketing. I'm working on my MBA with a concentration in marketing but to be honest, its taken a back seat while I catch up on releases.

Sono cresciuta con il fascino per le creature della notte. Sin dall'inizio ero strana e creativa. Dopo aver studiato arte per tutto il periodo scolastico, andai all'Università. Un figlio piuttosto inatteso dopo, cambiai la mia laurea e finii con un misto di arte ed economia. I due campi mi trasformarono in un ottima candidata per il Marketing. Sto lavorando sul mio Dottorato con una specializzazione in Marketing ma per essere oneste, ha preso un posto di secondo piano mentre cerco di seguire le mie uscite letterarie.

I live with my husband and three boys. They definitely keep me busy. Between convincing one he really doesn't need to have his eyebrow pierced, listening to the middle one's philosophy on life and pulling the youngest off the counter top, I do manage to eek in a very small amount of writing time during the day. Though, I'm not sure if plopping my laptop on the dinning room table, jacking the sound up high, and setting my email program to check mail every two minutes while I chase children and clean the house counts but for the sake of argument we'll say it does.

Vivo con mio marito e i miei tre figli. Mi tengono decisamente occupata. Tra il convincerne uno che non ha davvero bisogno di avere un piercing sul sopracciglio, ascoltare la filosofia di vita di quello di mezzo e tirare giù dalla credenza il più piccolo, riesco a ricavare davvero poco tempo per scrivere durante il giorno. Tuttavia, non sono sicura che sistemare il mio portatile sulla tavola della sala da pranzo, alzare il volume al massimo e programmare il mio programma di posta perchè controlli le email ogni due minuti mentre io inseguo i bambini e pulisco la casa conti, ma per il gusto della discussione diciamo che conta.

More often than not, my writing is done from around 8pm until 3 am. When writer block hits, I find that I still can't sleep until 3, so I'm left to find other things to do. Most of the time, I'll catch up on fellow authors' books or do some research. When the writers block is extremely bad, I find myself playing video games. You heard me right! LOL! Hey, I ended up with all boys for a reason you know!

Più spesso che no, lo scrivere è fatto tra le 8 di sera e le 3 di mattina. Quando il blocco dello scrittore colpisce, scopro che non posso dormire fino alle 3, così lascio perdere per trovare altre cose da fare. Il più delle volte, contatto le mie colleghe scrittrici o faccio alcune ricerche. Quando il blocco dello scrittore è estremamente brutto, mi ritrovo a giocare coi video giochi. Mi avete sentito bene! Risata! Hey, sono finita con l'avere tutti figli maschi per una ragione sapete!

The past year has been a whirlwind for me. July, 2003 I sat down one night at my computer because I couldn't sleep. There was NOTHING on television and I'd read all the books on my shelves. Bored out of my mind, I decided that I jot a few things down. Four weeks later, DAUGHTER OF DARKNESS was done and book two was starting. I'd never written anything before and was a bit shocked myself. After some coaxing from a close friend of mine, I sent it out to about five places. One agent flat out told me no. I suspect this was because he didn't represent that genre but I already knew that when I sent it. He had is picture up on the web and was/is a hottie. By January 1st, I had a contract in hand from New Concepts Publishing. I squealed, then squealed some more. Then I stopped, called a close friend of mine and we screamed together. We also spend the next week attempting to figure out what DOD stood for. We originally thought Date of Delivery, yet it didn't really make sense in the context of the email. Then it hit me: DOD stands for Daughter of Darkness.

Il 2004 è stato un vortice per me. Nel luglio del 2003 mi sono seduta una notte davanti al mio computer perchè non riuscivo a dormire. Non c'era NIENTE in televisione e avevo letto tutti i libri sui miei scaffali. Annoiata a morte, decisi che avrei buttato giù alcune cose. Quattro settimane dopo, Daughter of Darkness era finito e il libro due stava cominciando. Non avevo mai scritto nulla prima ed ero un po' sorpresa da me stessa. Dopo un po' di convincimento da parte di un mio caro amico, lo spediì a circa cinque posti. Un agente mi disse chiaro e tondo no. Sospetto che questo fosse dovuto al fatto che lui non rappresentasse quel genere ma io già lo sapevo quando glielo avevo mandato. Aveva messo la sua fotografia sul web ed era/è davvero sexy. Il primo Gennaio avevo un contratto in mano dalla New Concepts Publishing. Strillai di gioia, poi strillai ancora più forte. Poi mi fermai, chiamai una cara amica e gridammo insieme. Passammo anche il resto della settimana cercando di immaginare cosa significasse DOD. Pesammo originalmente a Date of Delivery (Data di Consegna), tuttavia non aveva realmente senso nel contesto della email. Poi ebbi l'illuminazione: DOD stava per Daughter of Darkness.

I went on a new contract high and finished three more books in the DOD series, wrote IMMORTAL OPS, SUPERNATURAL SUSPECTS, THE VALKYRIE, VALHALLA, MISFITS, & LAST CALL--all within three or four months. Not sleeping, and being convinced that at any moment someone would show up at your front door and call you out on not being a "real writer" will make you insane enough to toss that many books out.

Ottenni un contratto più alto e finii tre altri libri nella serie DOD, scrissi Immortal Ops, Supernatural Suspects, The Valkyrie, Valhalla, Misfits e Last Call - tutti in tre o quattro mesi. Non dormire, ed essere convinta che prima o poi qualcuno si sarebbe presentato alla mia porta di casa e mi avrebbe smascherato per non essere una "vera scrittrice" ti rende abbastanza pazza da sfornare così tanti libri.

As the release for DOD approached, I met a few more "newbie" authors at NCP and several from Ellora's Cave. We all hit it off immediately, especially Michelle M. Pillow, Jaycee Clark and myself. From that point on, I had people to share the rollercoaster ride with. They were great because all were seasoned writing veterans and didn't seem to mind holding my hand through the entire process. The marketing fell to me and after being sick to death of a certain daily/weekly online interviewer ignoring NCP authors, HAPPY HOUR WITH THE MM's was born. Michelle and I launched it with the idea that authors from ANY publisher were welcome and that we would do our best not to bore anyone to death. We came up with the idea and the four main characters. We still needed a setting. We knew that we wanted it to be a blend of a soap, Sex In The City, and Cheers. The minute Michelle suggested we use the bar/nightclub from the DOD series I jumped on it. Thus, THE RAVEN became the MM's hang out.

Mentre l'uscita di DOD si avvicinava, incontrai alcuni nuovi autori della NCP e diversi della Ellora's Cave. Tutte ottenemmo un successo immediato, specialmente Michelle M. Pillow, Jaycee Clark ed io. Da quel momento in poi, ebbi delle persone con cui condividere le montagne russe che stavamo cavalcando. Erano grandi perchè erano tutte scrittrici esperte e non sembrava importare loro tenermi la mano per tutto il processo. Il marketing incominciò ad annoiarmi e dopo essermi indignata per una certa intervistatrice giornaliera/settimanale che ignorava le autrici della NCP, nacque Happy Hour with the MM. Michelle ed io lo lanciammo con l'idea che le autrici di ogni editore erano benvenute e che avremmo fatto del nostro meglio per non annoiare nessuno a morte. Ce ne uscimmo con l'idea e i quattro personaggi principali. Avevamo ancora bisogno di una ambientazione. Sapevamo che volevamo essere un misto di soap opera, Sex in the City e Cheers. Il momento in cui Michelle suggerì che usassimo il bar/locale notturno dalla serie DOD io afferrai l'idea al volo. In questo modo, The Raven divenne il luogo di ritrovo delle MM.

It's unbelievable how much the project promoted us as well as the guest authors. It is still popular and each time a chapter is released we know that we'll be getting up to a thousand hits! While the direction of HAPPY HOUR has changed a bit, the story is still strong.

E' incredibile quanto il progetto ci fece pubblicità così come l'ospitare delle autrici. E' ancora famoso e ogni volta che un capitolo viene pubblicato sappiamo che otterremmo un migliaio di visite! Mentre la direzione di Happy Hour è cambiata un poco, la storia è ancora forte.

In the middle of all of this, Jaycee Clark, introduced me to Jaci Burton. She and her husband Charlie were just amazingly nice to me. Instantly, they seemed to take me under their wing. Jaci included (still does) me in many of the promotional projects she's working on. She is such a sweet gal that she even pushed her editor to take a peek at a piece that Michelle and I co-wrote. In the end, we ended up with a contract from EC and two people we consider friends. (Plus, I met Melani Blazer, Shannon Stacey and got to know Angie W a hell of a lot better....leaving me with an even bigger writing support group.)

Nel mezzo di tutto questo, Jaycee Clark mi presentò a Jaci Burton. Lei e suo marito Charlie furono così sorprendentemente carini con me. Istantaneamente, sembrarono prendermi sotto la loro ala. Jaci mi incluse (e ancora lo fa) in molti dei progetti promozionali a cui sta lavorando. Lei è una così dolce ragazza che spinse addirittura il suo editore a dare uno sguardo al pezzo che io e Michelle stavamo scrivendo insieme. With NCP releases in the double digits, EC release(s) coming in the new year, and a fountain of reader support, I'm finding many new doors opening to me. Now, I only need the courage to leap through them feet first. It's all been very surreal. I do NOT se myself as an author and laugh a bit every time I tell someone what I do. I'm still convinced someone will show up and call me a poser but I'm confidant I could kick their arse, or at the very least creep them out enough to run away.

Con le uscite della NCP in doppio formato, le uscite di EC all'inizio del nuovo anno, e una fontana di supporto dai lettori, trovo sempre nuove porte che si aprono per me. Ora, ho solo bisogno del coraggio per fare il primo passo. E' tutto davvero molto surreale. NON mi vedo come una scrittrice e rido sempre un poco quando dico a qualcuno quello che faccio. Sono ancora convinta che qualcuno si presenterà e mi chiamerà truffatrice ma sono fiduciosa di poter prenderli a calci nel sedere, o per lo meno spaventarli abbastanza da farli scappare.

I can only guess at what the coming years will bring. If it's half as good as 2004, I'll be a happy gal! I'm doing something I love, meeting tons of new people, have the greatest readers in the world and the support of my family.

Posso solo immaginare cosà porteranno i prossimi anni. Se saranno buoni anche la metà del 2004, sarò una ragazza contenta! Sto facendo qualcosa che amo, incontro tonnellate di persone nuove, ho i lettori più grandi al mondo e il sostegno della mia famiglia.

Ava stood before the large wall of mythological relics and statues, still unable to get over how much Professor Donatus Manlian had. It was his collection of Valkyrie figurines that continued to draw her attention. They were exquisite, done in cast iron. Each held swords and shields as they faced whatever enemy they stood against that day. Beside them, Donatus had large collection of demon figures as well, each more monstrous than the next.

Opening her hand, she looked down at the protective charm she’d had such a tight grip on and thought of Donatus’ emerald green eyes. The moment she’d first walked into his office per Kal’s instruction, her gut had clenched at the sight of all the relics. Some were rumored to draw evil to the beholder and since Donatus possessed little to no positive energy pieces, she’d gone out to her car and brought something to help protect him. Why she felt the need to bother was beyond her but she did.

More curious was why she felt the need to give him this charm in particular. It had been with her all her life and had belonged to her father. The urge to find it and give it to Donatus was like nothing she’d ever experienced before. Knowing that fighting her gut was foolish, Ava had rushed to retrieve it for him. It was all she could do to finish unloading her car and putting her personal belongings in her room before rushing to Donatus’ office.

Looking around, Ava couldn’t find a spot where the charm wouldn’t be obvious. As she looked back at his mahogany partner’s desk with an ebony inlay an idea came to her. She glanced at the door and decided to make her move. Slowly, she walked to his desk, smiling at the sight of an ornate Viking drinking horn lying on the corner of it. It looked a bit out of place. Her guess was that Donatus had pulled it out to show it to the new Professor of Norse Mythology—her.

Ava leaned far over his desk to the point her feet left the ground. Sliding out his center drawer a tiny bit, she dropped the charm in and closed it. As she stood, she felt someone watching her. Her entire body lit with need. Exhaling, Ava did her best to get herself under control before glancing over her shoulder.

Professor Donatus Manlian stood in the doorway, staring at her with a questioning look on his face.

Dropping her head down, Ava sighed. “I swear that this isn’t as bad as it looks. I wasn’t rifling through your drawers. I, umm.” The thought of telling him the truth didn’t sit any better than lying. “I’m going to stand up now. Then I’m not sure if I’m going to die of embarrassment or not.”

She slid back on the desk and followed Donatus’ hot gaze. It centered on her upturned ass. His brows arched and his jaw tightened. Was he aroused? She was. The very sight of the man did things to her that she’d never realized seeing a man could do.

Ava’s arm caught the drinking horn. The second she realized she was about to knock it off his desk, she gasped and reached for it. A large, warm hand clasped over hers as a solid body pressed her against the desk top.

Donatus’ thick, throbbing erection nestled into the globes of her ass. The thin skirt she wore provided little in the way of a barrier. His zipper dug into her while his erection attempted to burrow into her. The thought of having it deep within her caused a torrent of cream to flow from her.

Donatus laced his fingers in hers, clasping the horn and pulling it away from the edge. Ava went to stand, only to find that she was left rubbing her ass against his shaft and her mound against the edge of his desk. Biting back a moan, she turned her head slightly, accidentally brushing her lips past his.

For a moment, Ava was sure that a spark of power had passed between them. She laid there, her breathing choppy, her panties wet and her body demanding to be satisfied.

“I’m sorry,” she said, pulling the drinking horn closer to her body. “I didn’t mean to—”

“Shhh.” His hot breath blew over her cheek, leaving her legs shaking faintly and her chest thumping madly. “It’s okay. I pulled it out for you. I thought you might like to have it.”

“You can talk.” She’d meant to make a joke but the breathy sigh that accompanied it sort of turned it into sex phone operator line rather than a mood lightener.

He chuckled. “Yes. I can talk.”

Ava stava di fronte al grande muro di reliquie e statue mitologiche, ancora incapace di comprendere completamente quanto aveva fatto il Professore Donatus Manlian. Era la sua collezione di statuine di Valkyrie che continuavano ad attirare la sua attenzione. Erano squisite, fatte in ferro. Ognuna teneva spada e scudo mentre affrontavano qualsiasi nemico fosse loro contro quel giorno. A parte queste, Donatus aveva anche una grande collezione di statuine di demoni, ognuna più mostruosa dell'altra.

Aprendo la sua mano, guardò in basso all'amuleto protettivo su cui aveva una presa così stretta e pensò agli occhi verde smeraldo di Donatus. Quando era entrata per la prima volta nel suo ufficio dietro indicazione di Kal, il suo stomaco si era stretto alla vista di tutte quelle reliquie. Alcune si mormorava che attirassero la malvagità verso chi le possedeva e dato che Donatus non possedeva nessun pezzo con energia positiva, lei era andata fuori nella sua macchina e aveva portato qualcosa per aiutare a proteggerlo. Perchè sentisse il bisogno di preoccuparsene era oltre la sua comprensione ma lo aveva fatto.

Più curioso era il motivo del perchè lei sentisse il bisogno di dargli questo amuleto in particolare. Era stato con lei per tutta la sua vita ed era appartenuto a suo padre. La spinta a trovarlo e a darlo a Donatus era una cosa che non aveva mai provato prima. Sapendo che combattere il suo istinto era da pazzi, Ava era corsa a recuperarlo per lui.
